Tips for the Ethical Practice of Law
James Ehler, Deputy Counsel for Litigation and Regional Counsel (San Antonio) for the Chief Disciplinary Counsel, State Bar of Texas
Mr. Ehler completed his undergraduate studies at Texas Lutheran University. He holds a Juris Doctorate from South Texas College of Law.  Mr. Ehler is licensed to practice law in Texas as well as the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Texas, the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Texas and the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals.  He currently serves as Deputy Counsel for Litigation and Regional Counsel, San Antonio in the Chief Disciplinary Counsel’s Office for the State Bar of Texas. Prior to working for the State Bar of Texas, Mr. Ehler worked in the areas of Product Liability Litigation and Civil Trial Litigation for law firms in Houston and Brenham. Mr. Ehler is a frequent speaker on legal ethics.

Linda James, Owner, Advanced Document and Handwriting Examination Services, Dallas
Ms. James is a Board Certified Forensic Document Examiner, certified by the National Association of Document Examiners (NADE) and was recertified in 2011. Additionally, Linda holds certificates from the National Questioned Document Association and American Institute of Applied Science (I.A.S. Forensic Science Program). Linda is court-qualified and has testified in court and by deposition in numerous cases involving questioned signatures, anonymous notes, forged signatures and contracts, disputed wills, altered typewritten documents, and many other questioned document cases. In her capacity as a forensic document examiner, Linda has testified in Probate, Bankruptcy, State, Federal, Singapore, and Alaska courts and before the State Bar of Texas. She has also been qualified and met the guidelines under the Daubert/duPont hearings.  Her opinions have been judicially admitted. She holds a license from the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement Officers Standards and Education, and is an instructor for continuing education credits for Texas law enforcement agencies and Texas Board of Private Investigators and Private Security Agencies in question document examination. From 2009 to 2013 Linda served as president of the National Association of Document Examiners, a certifying board for document examiners.

The TAPS speaker list is available at www.txpd.org/taps and the event pull-out was included in the Summer 2013 issue of the Texas Paralegal Journal. All TAPS registration is required via online available on the Division’s website using a credit card, check, or money order (mo). If paying by check or money order, please note that a check/mo number is required before registration is accepted. In addition, if paying by check or money order, payment must be mailed and received within 10 days of registration (include a copy of the confirmation registration page with the check being submitted).
