TEXAS FORUM.  The State Bar of Texas Paralegal Committee is sponsoring its 32nd Annual Texas Forum, a CLE event for paralegals and attorneys, at Cityplace Conference Center, Dallas, TX on Friday, February 28, 2014.  If you are interested in obtaining up to 5 CLE hours, this is a great opportunity to both obtain CLE and meet paralegals from across Texas.  Seating is limited and the deadline to register is February 21.  To register, please download the registration form HERE.

TAPA Conference – April 4 – 5, 2014 – Irving, TX
On April 4-5, 2014, the Paralegal Division will host the Texas Alliance of Paralegal Associations (TAPA) Leadership Conference at the Westin Element DFW North Hotel in Irving.  The meeting brings together local paralegal association leaders and leaders of the Paralegal Division to discuss various topics that effect paralegal associations across Texas.  The meeting on Saturday, April 5 is attended by representatives of Texas paralegal associations.

On Friday, April 4, 2014, from 1:00 pm – 5:00 pm, the Paralegal Division will be present 3 hours of Leadership/Professional Development Training which is open to all paralegals.  This program will include:

·         Leadership Self-Assessment
·         Leadership Style – Discover Your Leadership “Type”
·         Creating a Vision for Your Association
·         Mentoring – How to Identify, Mentor and Raise Future Leaders

ANNUAL MEETING – SAVE THE DATE!  The Paralegal Division’s Annual Meeting, The Paralegal Express; Your Train for Success, is scheduled for Friday, June 27, 2014 from 11:30 am – 1:30 pm at the Fort Worth Club, Fort Worth, Texas.  The Annual Meeting of the Paralegal Division (per the Bylaws) is conducted to transition the new incoming Board of Directors and present annual awards to members of the Paralegal Division.  In addition to conducting the official business of the Paralegal Division, a one hour CLE topic will be presented.  This year’s Keynote Speaker will be Lyn Robbins, Senior General Attorney with BNSF Railways, who will share his insight as to what in-house counsel looks for from paralegals, including why formal education, CLE, certifications, professional association involvement and networking are so important.

TAPS 2014 SAVE THE DATE! The Texas Advanced Paralegal Seminar will be held in Austin, Texas, October 1-3, 2014. As always, the TAPS 2014 committee is working on great speakers with plans to offer up to 14 CLE hours, and great entertainment during the social. Members of the Paralegal Division receive a special discounted registration fee; it pays to join the Paralegal Division. More details will follow!
