Hear Ye, Hear Ye . . . Happy Texas Paralegal Day!

Hear Ye, Hear Ye . . . Happy Texas Paralegal Day!

On October 23, 1981, the Board of Directors of the State Bar of Texas honored Texas paralegals by establishing the Legal Assistants Division of the State Bar of Texas, now known as the Paralegal Division. This spoke volumes in terms of recognizing the profession, and the important work that we do in the furtherance of legal services. Texas made history in that it was the first state bar association in the country to establish a division for its paralegals!TX Paralegal Day Seal

Texas paralegals were again honored for their contributions by the Texas Senate when by Proclamation No. 1144, it recognized October 23 each year as Texas Paralegal Day, describing paralegals as “vital . . . with exceptional talents and expertise [they] provide valuable services that contribute significantly to the efficient functioning of the judicial system . . .” and concluded that the proclamation “. . . be prepared as an expression of high regard from the Texas Senate.”

My fellow Texas paralegals, on this our special day, I salute you! I am proud to be a part of this group of remarkable professionals. Let us never forget nor take for granted the many steps taken, and the hard work of our predecessors to get us where we are today, 33 years later!

Celebrate each other, and our profession, and continue the tradition of working to make the paralegal profession and the Paralegal Division influential! Enjoy your day—make it a great one!

Sincerely,
