District 3 of the Paralegal Division of the State Bar of Texas joint together with the Tarrant County Young Lawyers Association and the DFW Association of Young Bankruptcy Lawyers for a charity event – “Buzz for a Cause” on August 13, 2015. The three groups raised $1,500 for the 100 Homes for 100 Veterans in 100 Days Campaign. Great job! Sponsors included Paranet and Thomson Reuters. Special thanks to Stephens Anderson and Cummings for their generous donation of $500. The Tarrant County Homeless Coalition is thrilled as the donation comes at a critical time. Over the course of the last couple of weeks there have been several heat related deaths among Tarrant County’s homeless, and the Coalition is in serious of need of resources and equipment to help combat the Texas heat.
The following is a thank you note given to District # for their efforts:
A “Thank You” to our District 3 from the Tarrant County Homeless Coalition for their fundraising efforts at “Buzz for a Cause” on August 13th:
Robert, Mary, and Trisha:
Wow! We are really overwhelmed by the turnout and generosity of last night’s gathering. On behalf of the Tarrant County Homeless Coalition, thank you so much!
Momentum is building around the community-wide team working to end homelessness among veterans in Tarrant County. 151 Veterans have been housed since January, and the number of chronically homeless veterans is at its lowest point in recent memory. Our local progress rolls up as part of the nationwide effort to end homelessness among Veterans—called, “Zero 2016”—and we are inspired by other communities like Houston who have already achieved functional zero.
Thank you for helping to make a difference in the lives of Veterans who are homeless. 100% of the donations raised at last night’s event will be used to help veterans pay application fees and deposits on apartments, and meet other basic needs through TCHC’s Direct Client Services Fund.
Summer heat always makes us mindful of those who lack a cool place to sleep. We are so grateful for your partnership and support.
