PD District 15 Highlight

Posted by Texas Paralegal Division Blogger at blog@txpd.org on February 27, 2017

February 23, 2017, District 15 held its first 2 hour CLE for 2017 – “Law Office Management 101 for Paralegals.”  Lilly Flores was the guest speaker who offered lots of valuable information, suggestions and recommendations. Lilly did an excellent job covering all the issues that can arise in any law firm  from a Manager’s standpoint. Her presentation included the following topics: accounting issues, billing (savings & checking accounts, IOLTA and dealing with CPAs), types of law offices (solo practitioner, partnerships, professional corporations, and limited liability companies); advertising (per State Bar of Texas statutes), client file management (including opening/closing files), time management, risk management, communication skills, technology/software & backups, , staff management (employment issues, fringe benefits employee handbook, and conflicts of interest), marketing management, and social media in the workplace. Lilly works is a seasoned Paralegal and Law Office Manager at Kittleman Thomas, PLLC, McAllen, Texas.

The house was packed, with enthusiastic attendees who shared stories and ideas. Everyone walked away with valuable information, especially for those working in dual roles as Paralegals and Office Managers.  The guest speaker was generous in her engagement and gave away several gift cards.

All-in-all, it was a great seminar and thank you to those who were able to attend, especially after a long day of work and deadlines.
