“International Discovery: I found My Witness & Documents in Uzbekistan – Now, How Do I Get Them?”
Presented by Kenneth P. Kula, Senior Counsel at Buether Joe & Carpenter LLC
Event Description: Serving a Complaint against a foreign entity can be a daunting and time-consuming task. Similarly, locating relevant or important documents for a case outside the United States can be easy, compared to actually obtaining the testimony from the witness or copies of the documents once found. Fortunately, the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure and certain laws of the United States and treaties to which it is a signatory make that whole process a little more manageable. This one-hour webinar will explore those issues and provide a summary of best practices and procedures for effectively and efficiently obtaining the discovery one needs when it resides outside the jurisdiction of the United States of America.
Time: 12:00 noon CT
Cost: $40.00 for PD Members / $50.00 for Non-Members
TBLS approved: 1.0-hour CLE in Civil Trial Law or Personal Injury Trial Law

“International Depositions: Procedural Overview, Practice Tips & Insight Into What Can Be A Complex Process”
Presented by Jeff Koller and Clare Foley from Veritext Legal Solutions
Event Description: International depositions are clearly authorized by both the Federal & Texas Rules of Civil Procedure; however, what is not clear is the multitude of intricacies culminating in having an international deposition go forward. The focus of this presentation is to provide a practical, systematic and inclusive approach to not only learning what the rules are governing depositions in the foreign country you wish the matter to be scheduled, but also the logistics of obtaining the local court’s consent, learning of the foreign countries requirements, whether or not they permit depositions, coordinating travel and most importantly aligning the appropriate professionals to cover the reporting, video and interpreting. Not all countries are guided by the same rules, so knowing more and coordinating appropriately will detract from costly mistakes and errors that could have a dire impact on the proceedings you wish to take abroad.

“Divorce through the Collaborative Law Process”
Credits: 1 Hour TBLS CLE Credit – Family Law or Civil Trial Law
Speakers: David S. Bouschor II, Attorney at the Law Office of David S. Bouschor II PC, and Camille Milner, Attorney at the Law Office of Camille Milner
Summary: The Collaborative process in Divorce provides parties the options to restructure their relationships in a way that benefits everyone involved. Collaborative professionals, in conjunction with the parties and their respective attorneys, facilitate a transition through divorce in a positive, communicative manner, without ravaging their relationships, children, or estate while minimizing the stress of moving forward through this difficult time in their lives. Because this process is guided by the parties, attorneys and the Collaborative professionals rather than the Courts, the parties have the benefit of determining the timeline and direction of the case at their own pace.
